Dutch Trainees at MOprojects and Schwanekamp Interior – A First

Until now, we at MOprojects and Schwanekamp Interior have exclusively trained German carpentry apprentices. However, with the addition of the Dutch company Kroeze Interieur to the MOprojects Group, a new idea emerged: Why not also train Dutch apprentices in Germany?
No sooner said than done – and last winter, we welcomed our first Dutch trainee: Twan. In the Netherlands, apprenticeship training works differently than in Germany. Aspiring carpenters regularly switch companies and complete three-month internships at each. Twan chose to do his internship with us and shares his experiences.

An Exciting Exchange of Languages and Experiences

Twan describes his time with us as very positive. He was particularly impressed by the size and complexity of the projects he was allowed to work on. “I previously worked in a small company – but MOprojects and Schwanekamp are ‘top of the top.’ Projects here are on a whole different level, sometimes completed in just two days.” Despite initial insecurities due to the language barrier, he quickly felt at home. Matze, Nele, Andre, and the other colleagues gave him a warm welcome and helped him settle in. Twan emphasizes that having good English skills is essential if you don’t speak German, but technical terms are easy to learn along the way. He also found it particularly helpful that some colleagues spoke Dutch.

A recommendation for more trainees from the Netherlands

After completing his internship, Twan draws a thoroughly positive conclusion. He will especially miss the exciting and challenging projects and encourages other Dutch apprentices to take the leap: “Even if you’re scared at first, it makes you braver and is a great experience.”
We are delighted by Twan’s positive feedback and proud to be a company that offers young people cross-border training and development opportunities. Perhaps we will soon welcome more Dutch apprentices!
