In the summer of 2021, the Hair & Beauty salon at London’s Harrods department stores’ reopened with a new design. Based on the glamorous interior of the salon in 1982, the team of Sparcstudio Design designed an impressive interior concept for the salon, beauty shop and spa, which our MOprojects team implemented. Shiny peach-coloured marble, noble cream-coloured stone counters and wall panelling in pink with gold ornaments are just some of the sophisticated design elements that we installed in the good 1,250 m².
Variety of materials for the interior design of the shopping area and salon
The Hair & Beauty Salon at Harrods leaves nothing to be desired. A smooth transition between the beauty shop and the salon promises a special beauty experience. On the sales floor, customers will find high-quality cosmetic products from 43 beauty brands. In addition, the salon offers facial treatments, hairdressing and cosmetic services, manicures and pedicures as well as a spa. All areas and treatment rooms have a consistent furnishing concept in which materials and colours have been played with. Numerous different components made of wood, metal, natural stone, glass as well as LED lighting were used for the furniture and panelling. The size and material diversity of the Hair and Beauty Salon made it an equally challenging and exciting project for us.
Special project circumstances due to Brexit and Corona
It’s not just because of the scale of the project and its beautiful appearance that we will remember this project. Brexit and Corona created unusual circumstances in the collaboration between our production in Germany and the project location in England. Due to travel restrictions, we were not able to take measurements ourselves on site as usual and had to rely on the information provided by our local partners. As some of the samples on the floor had to be coordinated with the furniture positions, this presented us with a supposed challenge – which was, however, mastered without any problems thanks to the very good cooperation with our partners. In addition, since Brexit, we have had to make new customs preparations for deliveries, which have resulted in greater organisational effort and less flexibility. But even this, with foresighted planning, did not stand in the way of a smooth project flow. The result is impressive and makes us very proud as a team.
